The Cliffs of Moher is an incredible natural beauty and somewhere you should absolutely visit during your time in Ireland. It is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Ireland with over 1 million people visiting every year, and for good reason. Apart from the beauty of the 702 foot high cliffs, it’s also famous for being in both Harry Potter and The Princess Bride films. We knew we had to visit when in Galway, so we booked a tour. We ended up booking this one: From Galway: Full-Day Cliffs of Moher & Burren Guided Tour.
When looking on get Your Guide for tours, we rely heavily on the amount and the quality of the reviews. We want to make sure we’re booking something worth both our time and money. As as result, we’ve decided to write a review for this tour so you can make the best decision for you and your trip.

Tour Overview
This tour starts in the centre of Galway where you’ll hop on the bus with the rest of the group and the guide. You’ll drive for about 45 minutes until the first stop, Dunguaire Castle. The stop here is only 20 minutes or so where you’ll get the chance to walk around the castle and take some photos. Then you’ll drive to Doolin, passing through the Burren National Park and stopping at particularly scenic spots. In Doolin, you’ll get 45 minutes for lunch at the Doolin hotel, then hop back on the bus. Doolin itself is known for its music scene, one of the best in Ireland.
From there it’s just a 10 minute drive to the Cliffs of Moher where you get 2 hours of free time. You can wander around the cliffs, get all the photos, and there’s also a visitor section with an exhibition and a café. Once done there you’ll drive around 1.5 hours back to Galway, again stopping at scenic spots along the way. Back in Galway, they will drop you off where they picked you up.

Cost and Inclusions
There is only one option for this tour so that’s nice and easy for you! Do remember to bring money for lunch as it isn’t included in the tour and snacks as its a long day.
- From Galway: Full-Day Cliffs of Moher & Burren Guided Tour. This tour is 8 hours long and picks up at 9:30am at the Kinlay Hostel. In 2025 it costs €50 per person however in 2026 it is going up to €60 per person. Entrance to the Cliffs of Moher, the visitors centre and the exhibition centre are all included in this price.
Highlights
There’s so much to love about this tour! Firstly, and one of the main reasons we do tours, is the ease of getting to the cliffs. To get there from Galway you can catch the public 350 bus straight to the Cliffs of Moher. However it takes 2 hours and 15 minutes each way, with 16 stops between the two. You also obviously cannot stop at scenic points without getting off the bus and waiting for another one. We loved this aspect of the tour with the ease of getting between them as well as the stops along the way.
We enjoyed lunch at the Doolin Hotel as there isn’t a large choice for food once you get to the cliffs so take advantage of the lunch stop! At the cliffs themselves, we thought the amount of time we were given was a great amount. It was more than enough time to wander around to the viewpoints and take photos. We also walked along the cliffs for a bit to see different angles which we enjoyed.
Once we were done at the cliffs, there’s a visitor centre built into the ground you can go to. Here there’s a café, a separate take away place and a gift shop. Nearby there is also the Cliffs of Moher Experience which is an exhibition centre that’s worth visiting too. Lastly there is O’Brien’s Tower which is included in your cliffs entry which is a little tower vantage point built in 1835. As you can see there is more than enough to do with your time at the Cliffs of Moher.

Lowlights
Personally we didn’t have any lowlights for this tour, but that’s because we were lucky. We visited in early June and luckily got good weather. We got sun and a clear view of the cliffs and the surrounding water. This obviously made the tour very enjoyable and very much worth our time and money. However, Ireland is well known for having rain and cloud, especially the west of the country. In fact, an island off the west coast of Ireland gets double the amount of rainfall as Dublin in the east. This is something you’ll need to take into account for your day trip as the main part of the day will be outside at the cliffs.
We’d recommend booking whenever you like, but taking advantage of Get Your Guides 24 hour cancellation if you need it. This means that you can book to secure your place, then wait until a more accurate weather report comes out closer to your tour date. Then if the weather is looking bad, as long as it’s more than 24 hours before you go, you can get a full refund!
Quick note: In a photo below you’ll see the barrier with many people on the right side of it taking photos. There warning signs against doing this and we urge you to listen to them. These people are standing on the edge of the cliffs to get better photos. However the cliffs are unstable and people have fallen off before. It is simply not worth it for a photo, please stand behind the barriers!

Would We Recommend It?
We would absolutely recommend this tour! Firstly, the ease of getting there and back from Galway was definitely worth it. We also loved all the stops and scenic things we saw along the way which is something we couldn’t have done without hiring a car. The tour guide gave great information and fun facts which we really enjoyed too. As well. we really enjoyed the lunch at Hotel Doolin, there were lots of options and it was tasty.
The actual cliffs were wonderful and we thought we had a great amount of time there. There was more than enough to do inside when we were done taking photos and enjoying the cliffs. Just keep in mind that we had good weather and you really want to plan around the weather to really get the most out of this tour to the Cliffs of Moher.
